KBCA releases All-State Boys Basketball team

WICHITA, Kan. —

Wichita Heights won its third state title in a row, and the Kansas Coaches rewarded the Falcons with four All-State selections including two on the First-Team with Perry Ellis and Evan Wessel. E.J. Dobbins and Terrance Moore were the other two Falcons selected on the Honorable Mention team.

The second-team featured two more City League stars in North sophomore scoring maching Conner Frankamp and Southeast junior Gavin Thurman.

Ryan McCarthy of Maize, Ja’Ln Williams of Wichita East, Cody Bernbeck of Garden City, Cameron Cornilus of Derby and Dodge City’s Rico Hogan were all honorable mention selections this year.

Class 5A Boys

McPherson took down Kansas City Washington for the Class 5A title in March, and star seniors Christian Ulsaker and Jack Pyle were honored as First-Team All-State selections for their efforts in the title season. Kansas City Washington star Tra’Vaughn White was also a First-Team Selection along with Gardner Edgerton’s Bubba Starling and Miege’s Curtis Okafor.

Shay Wooten highlighted the second team for Salina Central. Liberal’s Jade Cathy, Hays’ Zach Gaughan, Kapaun’s Michael Martin, Valley Center’s Dylan McCullough, Carroll’s Brian Rohleder and Adam Wilks of Andover Central all garnered honorable mention honors.

Class 4A Boys

Kansas City Sumner won the Class 4A state title, but runner-up Ottawa earned more First-Team All-State selections with two to Sumner’s one. Ottawa’s Semi Ojeleye is the only underclassman to make the first team the sophomore joins his senior teammate Adam Hasty on the first team. Cheney’s Sean Osler was the only local player to earn first-team honors.

Travis Erwin of Augusta, Dylan Hawkins of Andale, JP Lohrentz of Buhler, Seth Nelson of Smoky Valley and Matt Swank of Pratt all garnered honorable mention selections.

Scott City’s Ron Baker willed his team to a state title in Class 3A and the senior was rewarded as a First-Team All-State player. Douglass’ Jared Holthaus carried his Douglass Bulldogs all season long and also earned a Frist-Team selection.
